Stools

Office stools are chairs built for counter-height and standing-height work surfaces: lab benches, drafting tables, reception counters and cafe tables in a break room. The 12 here fall into two kinds. Task stools are the office chair’s taller sibling, with a height-adjustable seat, casters and a padded or mesh back. Stacking stools are fixed-height plastic shells on four legs, sold in 24, 29 and 30 inch seat heights for cafe and bar-height tables, and they stack for storage. The filters on this page narrow the list by back type (mesh, fabric, vinyl or plastic) and arm style (armless, fixed or adjustable).

SitOnIt Seating makes eight: the Rio, Mika and Wit task stools, the InFlex task stool with an upholstered seat, the Movi task stool with a mesh back that flexes 14 degrees at the hip, and the Rio and Mika stacking stools in 24 and 30 inch heights, all rated for 300 pounds. 9to5 Seating makes the Cydia mesh task stool with height and width adjustable arms and adjustable lumbar support, in a 22 to 30 inch range for counter height and a 26 to 36 inch range for standing-height surfaces, and the Kelley stacking stool, a 29 inch plastic shell in twelve colors that stacks five high. HÅG makes the Capisco, a saddle-style chair that works from desk height to standing height on a choice of three cylinders, with a seat you can use facing forward, sideways or backward, an optional footring, 27 vinyl colors and a black, white or silver frame.
